I had lunch at "Kona's Coffee" which opened in Chatan Mihama American Village, Okinawa. With the concept of ``the closest Hawaiian dining table,'' this restaurant offers an array of Hawaiian dishes such as hearty pancakes, hamburgers, and Loco Moco. The atmosphere that makes you feel like you've traveled overseas is perfect for the Chatan townscape.
Comfortable 2-story building with great views
Kona's Coffee itself has multiple locations in Japan, but this is the memorable first store in Okinawa and the only store as of Dec. 2024. I'm really looking forward to seeing if the number will continue to increase in the prefecture (if it does increase, I'm guessing it will be in Toyosaki, Tomigusuku City, and Nago City, but what do you think?).
The seats inside the restaurant are spaced out with plenty of space, so you'll feel comfortable no matter where you sit. We have the capacity to accommodate everyone from one person to a large group, and the furniture and accessories have an overseas-style interior design. The Chatan townscape around the store also has a very foreign-like feel to it, so I think it goes perfectly with Kona's Coffee.
Also, what I was personally happy about was the two-story building, so the view was great, and I was able to see a lot of cars coming into American Village. During the holidays, you'll never get tired of looking at the many interesting cars from US military bases, including American cars, VIP cars, and retro vintage cars.
Heavyweight Hawaiian food has arrived!
And it's great to have it in such a situation! This is Hawaiian food. Since I couldn't miss the famous pancakes, I had a hard time choosing between ahi poke, garlic shrimp, and mochiko chicken, but this time I chose the classic Loco Moco. All of Kona's dishes are voluminous, so if you want to try a variety of things, it might be best to come with at least two people, such as a couple or family.
The Loco moco, where the hamburger is the star, is made from 100% coarsely ground beef and is fluffy and juicy. The rich demi-glace sauce, fried egg, avocado, and grilled tomato toppings are indescribably luxurious.
Not only is the hamburger steak itself delicious, but the generous amount of demi-glace sauce goes well with the rice, so you can keep eating it. There were two piles of thick white rice, but before I knew it, there was only one pile...!
Fluffy pancakes topped with whipped cream
The next pancake was filled with whipped cream that made me burst into laughter. Do people in Hawaii really eat such amazing food? I don't know how true or false it is, but I do know that this visual will make many people happy.
The pancakes are fluffy and chewy, baked on a griddle after receiving your order. The dough itself has a slightly salty taste, so it tasted just right when combined with fruit and whipped cream.
If you want to add more sweetness, please use the maple syrup placed on the table. It's important to be consistent with these things, so if you eat a lot today, you can eat lighter tomorrow. Let's do it this time! (That's what I said to myself as I poured it all over and ate it. Bliss).
I love the generous size of the coffee.
If you order a drink with food, you will get a 100 yen discount. Moreover, Kona's doesn't have options such as S, M, and L, so every time you order a coffee, you get something like this 2L size, so it's a great deal. It's probably at a level that can compete with the giant cup from Melrose, which is famous for its cheesecake.
I thought that ingesting such a large amount of caffeine would probably upset my stomach, but the coffee was refreshing and easy to drink without any unpleasant taste, and it went perfectly with the sweet pancakes.
This time I visited for lunch, but it would also be fun to stay overnight at a nearby casual hotel such as La'gent Hotel or Lequ and spend the night here. At that time, I ordered various things a la carte and decided that this was a tropical resort! I want to drink a Hawaiian cocktail.

As you may know, Kona's Coffee is run by Toridoll Holdings, the company known for Marugame Seimen. I was surprised by the completely different world view from Marugame, but it makes sense since both the udon and pancakes are made with flour. By the way, the pancakes come in both sweet and meal varieties, so they're great for brunch too. Honey mustard sticky chicken pancakes piled high with sticky chicken are incredibly impressive!
